One of the top reasons folks from around the world flock to VMworld every year is the content. On average, a VMworld attendee will attend 10 breakout sessions at the show – not to mention the hundreds of hands-on-labs, workshops, group discussions and 1:1 with VMware experts.

Whether it’s your first VMworld, or your 13th, there are over 400 unique sessions for you to attend (in addition to quick talks, group discussions, labs and more), presenting an endless combination of learning opportunities.

We know sessions tend to fill up quickly, and we certainly do our best to offer repeats of those hot sessions. As a best practice, start building your schedule if you’re registered for the conference!

Unsure what sessions to register for?

Below are content previews from 4 of the hottest topic areas at this year’s VMworld. Check out these previews and see if you’re able to draw some inspiration when creating your VMworld schedule!

Network Virtualization

Bruce Davie, the CTO of Networking at VMware, discusses the future of networking virtualization in a session from VMworld 2015. During NET8193R at VMworld 2016, he’ll be doing a technical deep dive, taking an “under the hood” look at network virtualization, examining the underlying architecture and its ongoing evolution.

Being the virtualization event of the year, VMworld is here to help!

The 2016 conference will offer a plethora of sessions on how you can utilize desktop virtualization, endpoint management, security, and other technologies to reduce the complexity and cost of managing the connected enterprise. Take a look at our featured virtualization sessions here.

NSX

Networking as we know it, is undergoing a huge transition. It’s fundamentally transforming from a hardware-driven industry, into a software industry. In this content preview of one of the best rated and attended VMworld 2015 sessions, “The Next Horizon for Cloud Networking and Security”, you’ll discover what happens when you add: Containers + Public Cloud + NSX. At VMworld 2016, you will be able to learn everything from NSX use cases to automating networking & security operations with NSX.

At VMworld 2016, our technology experts will help you build the skills necessary to deliver the benefits of NSX. We know architecting, implementing and managing enterprise networks is a more complex task than ever, so take a look at our featured NSX sessions in 2016, here.

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

Hyper-converged infrastructure, or HCI, is emerging as an enterprise storage architecture for the datacenter. This VMworld 2015 session, STO5954-S, discusses what HCI is, what makes it possible, as well as how customers can leverage HCI to solve real problems. The session takes a closer look at VMware’s solution for HCI – VMware Virtual SAN, diving into its unique characteristics and offers a customer perspective as well.

VMware Virtual SAN

In STO7650, a VMworld 2015 session (and a VMworld 2016 session!) featuring Duncan Epping and Lee Dilworth, you’ll hear a primer on the path of software-defined storage at VMware. Duncan and Lee overview the different software-defined storage initiatives from VMware, as well as how these fit into the SDDC picture. This session covers Virtual SAN (VSAN), Virtual Volumes (VVols) as well as the vSphere APIs for IO Filtering (VAIO).

Storage itself, is a business-critical job. Creating highly available and reliable solutions that store and protect data and applications while ensuring business continuity isn’t always black and white.

At this year’s VMworld, you’ll be able to discover how you can take hyper-converged infrastructure to the mainstream, while maximizing the benefits of your HCI. Additionally, VMworld will feature sessions displaying how to conduct a successful Virtual SAN Proof of Concept (POC), and also show you the roadmap of where VMware is headed with HCI and Virtual SAN.

Take a look at our featured storage/HCI sessions here.

The journey to knowledge at VMworld is up to you. Dive into VSAN. Get more knowledge around network virtualization. See what the hype is around hyper-converged infrastructure. Discover how businesses are using vCloud Air and the virtual private cloud.

Which path will you take? VMworld is coming August 28th.
