Case Studies
Calsoft has delivered successful projects across various areas and across full product life cycle. Here is sampler of some of our success stories to give you a flavor of our capabilities (click on title to download):

Windows Kernel Development
Calsoft, due to our long standing commitment to technical expertise, has been engaged by our client to develop client the Windows platform.
This file system currently works only on our clients UNIX flavor and they wanted to port it to other operating systems. Calsoft was selected to port this to support Windows.

Operating System for a NUMA machine
Complete Life-cycle collaboration to develop an operating system for MCS (Multi Computer System) - a high performance multiprocessor system that is based on the NUMA (Non Uniform Memory Access) architecture.

Monster File System
Design and development of a highly scalable distributed file system that can scale to more than 256 nodes. and take advantage of two recent trends in computing: The increased acceptance of Network attached storage and the imminent appearance of Gigabit Ethernet; File System studies that demonstrate that metadata performance is a bottleneck for most file systems.

India Development Center under BOT model
IMLogic was exploring building an India team to provide them more flexibility and create ability to deliver more features and functionality quicker to increase their competitive advantage.

Product Development for a Backup and Recovery Solution
Calsoft engaged with the customer to develop a Bare Metal System Restore product and recovery solution for Active Directory and Domain Controller. Calsoft also built a MAPI based granular exchange backup component supporting Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 servers. We completely redesigned the UI using MFC, leading to a long term partnership with the client.

ODC for QA
Performed an independent & strategic evaluation of the Panasas box by building automated tests and doing manual QA for High End NAS Box. We performed file systems testing, with complete NFS & CIFS verification. This ODC has grown in strength and has been instrumental in helping Panasas launch their product in Q3 2003.

Storage Management Product
Developed a storage management product from market research to delivery for NetApp. The project involved design, rapid end-to-end development & testing of a File Virtualization Product in the Windows space and a comprehensive Management UI. The client was able to handle a large project on a "turnkey" basis with a quick deployment of a large team.

Network Abstraction Layer for a TOE card
Calsoft designed and implemented a network abstraction layer for Lustre: a cluster file system supported by US Department of Defence over Alacritech's TOE card for CFS. Lustre runs over different networks and the cluster file system has a specific network access API, that needs to be implemented on each network type.

xNFS
File Server for high-throughput file access HP's Storage Division in Colorado wanted to design a SAN-oriented File System based on traditional network storage protocols that provides high-throughput file access over SANs. Calsoft devised a Linux-based prototype from scratch in a very short time. The project required designing extensions to the NFS protocol which was designed as a pair of linux kernel loadable modules. The performance measurements on these prototypes indicated a throughput increase of up to 3-4 times.
